August 27, 2005  The Fall 2005 Beginning Fencing Class starts.   Anyone interested in taking the class, please contact Brian Parker or Ben Little.  You may use the Contact Us form here on the webpage.  Second button from the bottom on the left.  Or call/stop by the Huntsville Athletic Club.  Classes are 8 weeks long.  They begin promptly at 12:00 noon and run until 2;00PM.  All Basic equipment provided for duration of class.  Wear comfortable clothes and preferably flat soled tennis shoes.  Cost is $90.00, payable after the second class.  We hope to see you there.  Contact soon, class size is limited.

August 13, 2005 - Fencing Clinic #3:  Advanced Tactics:  Emphasize will be on second intention, counter-time, and renewed counter-attacks.  12-2PM

August 6, 2005 - Fencing Clinic #2:  Basic Tactics:  This clinic lays the groundwork for use of basic tactics in fencing.  Push pull, breaking timing, feints and draws.  12-2PM

July 23, 2005 - Fencing Clinic #1:  Technique:  In this clinic, Mr. Little will be emphasizing the fundamentals: self-correction, footwork, bladework (including simple attacks, stop hits, parries), keeping distance and perhaps some basic tactics. 12-2PM. 

HFC Annual Dues are due August 1, 2005.  HFC 'year' runs from August 1 - July 31.  See Brian if you have any questions.

USFA Annual Dues are due August 1, 2005 for the 2005-2006 Fencing Season.  Contact Brian for USFA forms if you don't already have them.    

2005 HFC Summer Break - HFC will 'formally' be on break from mid-June until mid-July.  Please feel free to come and fence at the regular times, but there will be no beginning class or private lessons during this time.  It's summer y'all.  Go relax and play for a change!  Meet back here refreshed and ready to fence on July 23, 2005 for the first in a series of clinics to jump start the new fencing season.  See you then.

2006 South East Sectionals venue announced - It's ALABAMA!  City not yet announced, but state for event has been chosen.  This is going to be a great fencing season for everybody in the SE Section but especially for those of us fortunate enough to live in the State of Alabama this year.

2006 National Competition announced - It's ATLANTA!  Stay Tuned for more details as they become available.  Look for a VERY active season in the SE this year.

May 22, 2005 - With his third place victory at SE Sectionals, it is our pleasure to announce that Brian Parker has earned his A Rating 2005. Congratulations Brian. Job well done and Rating LONNNNNG overdue

May 22, 2005 -   Brian Parker took 3rd place at the 2005 South East Sectionals held in Charleston, SC.  This is the second year in a row that Brian has taken 3rd in Men's Epee.

Spring '05 Beginning Fencing Class Graduates.  Congratulations to our new fencers for completing the Beginning Fencing Class and welcome to the world of Open Fencing.

March 2005 - Joe Dabbs was honored with an evening of recognition for his accomplishments in fencing over the last 50 + years.  Mr. Dabbs was one of the founding members of the original MARS Fencing Club at Marshall Spaceflight Center.  MARS evenutally evolved into the HFC as we know it today. 

January 29th, 2005 - HFC fencers made a good showing on at the Music City Open in Nashville TN. Brian Parker took 1st place in Mixed Epee by defeating Maxwell Dettlinger. Roland Vincent tied for 3rd, losing only to Brian in the semi-finals. Danielle Green came in 42nd in Mixed Epee and 33rd in Mixed Foil. And in his very first tournament, Karl Kiesler (aged 10) took 47th in Mixed Epee fencing against experienced adult fencers.

October 31, 2004 -- Brian Parker took first place at the tournament held at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN on Saturday October 30. Congratulations Brian on another great win!

October 23, 2004 -- We will hold an Armory Clinic on Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the Fencing Room at the Huntsville Athletic Club (HAC). The purpose is to learn to assemble/wire and maintain your weapons (specifically epee). If you are interested, please contact Brian or just show up for the clinic. Walk ins are welcome.

October 09, 2004 -- The Fall Session Beginning Fencing Class will commence October 09, 2004 and will run for 8 consecutive Saturdays from Noon until 2PM at the Huntsville Athletic Club located on Leeman Ferry Road.

July 10, 2004 -- The Summer Session Beginning Fencing Class will commence June 10, 2004 and will run for 8 consecutive Saturdays from Noon until 2PM at the Huntsville Athletic Club located on Leeman Ferry Road.

July 09, 2004 -- HFC's own Brian Parker competed in Men's Division 1A Epee at the 2004 Summer Nationals held this year in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Although an experienced competitor with several National Competitions under his belt, this was Brian's first time competing at the Division 1A level.  He beat  8th seed Sean Harder and came in 32nd in a field of 96, falling only to Patrick Gettings from Notre Dame.  Congratulations Brian!

June 05, 2004 -- The Huntsville Fencing Club is pleased to announce the graduation of its 2004 Spring Session Beginning Fencing Class.   Having successfully completed the Beginning Fencing Class they are now entitled to participate in all free fencing activities, tournaments and events that the HFC has to offer.
